All good things come to an end..

In exactly one week, at this very hour, I'll be about to leave the office after my first day of work after a year of mat leave! I'm excited...and anxious at the same time! I think there are no exact words to describe how it feels (but I'm sure all of you moms know what I'm talking about!)

A year away from work...that's quite a long time! But this year must have been one of the most fulfilling I have ever experienced! I have learned a whole new job, the job of being a mom! It truly has been exciting & rewarding!

4 business days left...

Talk to you soon!

All about owls!

Everybody who knows me knows that I have a thing for owls!
It all started about a year & a half ago, when we bought the crib set for baby's nursery. At that time, we didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl (and I would have wanted to keep it a surprise but my boyfriend just couldn't bear it!) but we knew that we wanted a gender neutral nursery (we're really not into the pink or blue scheme!)

When we were shopping for the crib, we literally fell in love with this one
Isn't it cute? Love the herringbone bed bumper!

There it was, we had found the nursery theme! The word started spreading, next thing you know, almost all the baby shower gifts we received had something to do with owls!

I did a lot of Internet research for inspiration (if only I would have had a Pinterest account then!!! Don't even know if it existed?...) and found so many cute items out there! Most of all on Etsy, that's for sure!
Here are some of the products & artists I discovered through my big quest for owls!

 Cori Dantini

She makes such wonderful art! I just love it...I first fell in love with her owls, but she does more than that! Check out her Etsy shop, you will be blown away!

Kimberly Scola from Chez Sucre Chez

I've already introduced you to this cute shop in a previous post . You can find Kimberly gorgeous pieces in her Etsy shop

Funky Chicken Design

This is the funky switch plate we bought for baby's nursery. It's just too cute, everybody loves it! Go visit Michelle's Etsy shop and you too will find amazing stuff for your little nest! (Owls...nest...no pun intended here!)

Hope you will enjoy these finds!
Planning to share some more with you in the future!

PS: Needed to share this with you guys...Haven't posted anything in a few days cause baby has been sick...but right now, just picture this...I'm writing these lines as she's taking a nap on my chest, in her baby wrap carrier! Those things are so handy! Just love them...Maybe I'll chat about that another day!

Have a good one everybody!

Only 2 1/2 weeks left! HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

OMG OMG OMG!!!

So many things to do, so little time! What did I tell you guys about...hum...2-3 weeks ago!

"I'd like to call this the "5 weeks challenge", but I'm just afraid that I'll get disappointed if I don't get through the list! You know what I mean!"

Guess what?...time is flying by and even tough I've checked some things off my list...it's still quite long!
Besides from the little one being sick, I guess my biggest "challenge" has been Pinterest...or staying off Pinterest should I say! This thing is so freakin' addictive!!!

Anyway, here's what I've been working on lately (in between diaper changes, laundry & dirty dishes!)

Some custom orders for friends

Also did a little photo session with my best friend and her baby girl!

I bought the supplies I needed to prepare the party decorations for baby's 1st bday...This is only the start, but I'm so pleased with my color scheme choice...and really happy with the way the invitations came out! Love it!

Ok so what's next... there's a quilt I'd like to finish, some painting that needs to be done in the house...also wanted to start working on the slipcovers for our couch (just to give you an idea...I've had this project since we moved in our house...about 2 years ago!!!! But before cutting all the pieces, I need to preshrink my 11-12 yards of fabric...I'm planning a trip to the laundromat very soon!) Also really need to add some listings to my Etsy shop...and prepare all the DIY decorations for my sweetie's bday!

Can I please get more than 24 hours in a day?!?!
Good luck to me!
I'll keep you posted!

Take care!

Lately, I've been thinking about party decorations...you know me, my love for crafts has no limits...so I couldn't help myself...I started collecting ideas here & there and ended up with quite a few projects I want to accomplish for my sweetie's big day! After all, she's only going to turn 1 once!

Sneak peek #1

Today, I thought I would share with you one of my new crafting obsession...cross stitching!!!
It all started about 2 months ago , thanks to Kimberly from Chez Sucre Chez.  I was wandering on Etsy when I discovered her great shop & amazing products...and when I noticed that she was also selling diy cross stitch kit (all the material you need + a pattern to follow) I decided to give it a try... so I ordered this cute kit and that was it...I was hooked!

After that, I decided to start creating some cross stitch pattern of my own...My first original piece was this baby keepsake for one of my friend...thought it would be a cool birth gift & a great addition to her baby's nursery...

Then, I did this keepsake for my own daughter...really love the way it turned out!!! I'm really thinking about adding this type of customized baby keepsake to my Etsy shop...stay tuned!

The "5 weeks challenge"...or something like that!

Today was baby's first day (half day should I say) at day care! And it went so well, way better than I had thought it would... I guess us parents tend to worry a bit too much...sometimes!

Am I the only one thinking "I hope she won't cry too much", "I hope she won't be too difficult", "I hope she'll sleep well, without causing any trouble"....I hope, I hope....

Now that we broke the ice & that the "stress" of the first time is over with, I just realized how much things I could get done with a little free time... Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOOOOOOVE my daughter and love spending time with her... But with a few hours to myself, the possibilities seem endless! Should I be feeling guilty? I don't think so... It seems to me that as mothers, guilt is always near...but we shouldn't be feeling like that, should we?

5 1/2 weeks before getting back to work...the countdown has really begun!
But since the little one will be going part-time to day care, I figure out that I should use this "ME, MYSELF & I" time to work on my crafts!!! Work on some listings for my Etsy shop, that's for sure! But also so many other projects that I had put aside because I just didn't have time...The list is quite long though! I'd like to call this the "5 weeks challenge", but I'm just afraid that I'll get disappointed if I don't get through the list! You know what I mean!

Stay tuned for updates...
I might craft like crazy...or maybe I'll just fall asleep on the couch (hope not!!!)
Who knows!

Have a good evening everyone!

Dreaming of a real craft room...

It's been almost 2 years since we moved into our first home, and since the house was brand new, we have an unfinished basement. Lately, with all the crafting & sewing I've been doing, I can't tell you how bad I'd like to have a real, organize, functional (and pretty!) craft room! Right now, all my things are scattered around the house...let me give you a quick idea:

  • Down stairs, in the UNFINISHED basement, I have my 2 industrial sewing machines (overlock & fur) along with my fabric stash (which clearly needs to get organized, fast!)
  • On the first floor, in the dining room, you can find my ironing board, and my dining table hidden under piles of felt, fabric, some embroidery floss and lots of other sewing supplies (ruler, measuring tape, buttons in all size & colors, needles & pincushions...name it, I'm sure I can find it in here!) And my camera & computer, to be able to add my listings on Etsy...and now work on my blog! Hopefully this set up will be history in a few weeks, once I'll get back to work...our  table might recover it's original purpose...like being used as a DINING table!!! But for my defense, I have to explain that I've invaded the kitchen to be able to work on my craft while keeping and eye on the little one!
  • Finally, on the second floor, in the spare room next to my daughter's room, I had installed my plain sewing machine (basically because there was not enough space left on my dining table!)...and I have to admit that the floor is covered with fabric scraps...My bad!
After all these explanations, no need to tell you that a real craft room would be a must!

A few days ago, while the little one was taking a nap, I found myself wandering on the Internet, looking for inspiration for the craft room I'll one day have! What?!?!...you can't stop a girl from dreaming a little! Here are some of the pictures that really caught my eye! Enjoy!

Wine rack as yarn storage!!! That's so ingenious!! Idea from Prudent Baby

Ikea shelves + chalkboard paint = I LOVE this! Idea from The Smith Nest
Sarah Richardson, I love you! So many great ideas in there!
Pegboard really is a must for organization! Idea from Apartment Therapy
Euhhh...WOW!!! I'm almost jealous...if only my fabric stash could look like this! You can buy these fabric organizers here
Found so much inspiration...I could add many other pictures but I'll stop here for today! And I'll keep dreaming until the basement is finished!

Have a nice day everyone!
